Alameda

Release Date: 2023-08-18

Release:

Indie artist Todd Binder’s third single, Alameda, was released August 18th, 2023 on all major platforms. Alameda transports its listeners to another era, evoking the poignant emotions of sailor following World War II.  His thoughts expose an underlying, deeply human desire for meaning and validation in the world around him. Despite the calming beauty staged by the musical score, Alameda is bittersweet and devastating in its nostalgia and longing. Alameda was also written as an homage to the island city of Alameda, California, where Todd Binder called home for a while.

Alameda was recorded and mixed completely in analog at the legendary Tiny Telephone Studio in SF.

Lyrics

It meant nothing to you
To send me off with a kiss
But there ain’t nothin’ to lose
That I don’t miss

My heart grows fonder for you
Aw honey make me a wish
‘Cause I’ve got something to prove
And my mind’s in two parts I can’t fix

Ala-me
Ala-me
Alameda mmm

Honey do you wanna stay
On my mmm mind

Through the oceans of night
Cross the battle lines
In my darkest times
You’ve been on my ride

With a heart so red white and blue
You sent me off with a kiss
The fight goes onward for you
Someday I’m gonna make you proud of this

Ala-me
Ala-me
Alameda mmm

It’s been so long
How long
‘Til I’m fine

Ala-me
Ala-me
Alameda
